My name is Tabitha and I was recently diagnosed with AS. Before being diagnosed I had no knowledge of what it was. I had never even heard of it. At a young age I had always had back problems and digestive issues. No could every figure out what was wrong with me. As I got older these problems only worsened and I blamed the body pain on the years of dancing I did. Now I couldn’t even imagine doing the dancing I once did. Some days I’m so stiff or in so much pain that it hurts to do anything yet doing nothing makes it even worse. I’ve become so accustomed to pain that it’s just normal for me and I accepted it. I’m hoping that soon I will find something that helps so that i can keep going. I am a 33 year old single mother, student, and full time medical assistant. Luckily I am able to push through what pain I have most days but the fatigue is never ending and that’s just not an option for me. Many people don’t know the pain and fatigue I feel daily but I’m am good at pushing through it and putting on a good face. I am thankful that I am still able to do the things that I still do but I feel like things are quickly progressing.
