My name is Joy Padilla and I have Ankylosing Spondylitis. I was diagnosed late 2012 after over ten years of back pain. I would go into the doctor every so often complaining of it to be told “everyone gets a back ache, try going to a chiropractor”. So thinking most of the time this was normal and perhaps I was being a baby about it I let it go. Then summer 2012 I could hardly walk, the pain was unbelievable and to the point getting out of bed was not a good thing. Treatment by my rheumatologist has me back to almost normal. My saving grace are my family. My husband and children are wonderful support. I have four children, three are still home and I homeschool them. My other reason for getting out of the house on a daily basis is my horse. If I didn’t have him I would be a unhappy couch potato. The medical bills are overwhelming. I have set up a go fund me account in hopes perfect strangers might be so giving as to help me with that. Fingers crossed and thank you for bringing awareness to AS!
