Jane Lark

Jane Lark

I started writing my personal journey from when I first started suffering with AS on a blog called Battling Ankylosing Spondylitis this year.

I started suffering with AS in 1991. I was not diagnosed until 2007. When in the end I diagnosed myself on the internet, I went to a doctor and said “Do you think I have this?” In 1996 I started writing and then while AS was my burden, writing became my escape.

After years of writing I have finally succeeded in winning a publishing contract and my debut novel is due to be published 2nd May 2013 (writing fiction has been my preferred painkiller for years and now I can share my escapism characters).  Sapphire Star Publishing are the publisher. If you want to find out more about me go to www.janelark.co.uk  or like me on my Facebook author page or follow me on twitter @janelark

I have a lot of people who read, comment on and re-tweet my AS blog, one of my real breakthroughs was discovering other people knew what I was going through, I felt normal then, so I love connecting with other people who have AS. People have said on my blog “You’re talking about me aren’t you?” It’s so great to have others who understand what you go through.

  1. Dear Jane,
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us, congratulations on your book!

  2. I am now another step away from the ideal life I crave of working at home writing so I don’t have to struggle into work on bad days, and can take lots of dog walking and exercising breaks. I got a new Publishing contract yesterday with one of the big publishers Harper Collins. Through their digital Harper Impulse Romance line. They are re-releasing my debut novel and have signed a load more historical novels and a modern series too. I am giving myself 18 months to reach the fantasy of life that works around my AS. Wish me luck 🙂
