Eileen King
My name is Eileen King and I live in Puyallup, Washington
I have had symptoms of AS since my teens. I wore a Milwaukee Brace for scoliosis for 5 years as a teen & whenever I would talk about pain in my back, the doctors would dismiss it reminding me that there shouldn’t be pain. As the pain continued for the next 29 years, the doctors continued to tell me nothing was wrong. It wasn’t until I was 49 that I was diagnosed with AS & Rheumatoid Arthritis. I’m now finally on medications that are helpful and continuing moving forward in life. I’m a wife, mother of two, and nana of four, plus a doctoral student. The disease impacts my life in different ways, but the fatigue is the most impacting. AS & RA don’t define me, but they do define how quickly I may get things done. Otherwise, I have a good support network and am enjoying my life in between naps. 🙂
Thank you for bringing the faces of AS together.
Sincerely,
~Eileen
