Donna
My name is Donna and I live in Queensland, Australia. I was identified as possibly having AS during an episode of iritis, where bloods showed I had the HLAB-27 gene, and waited nearly 2 years for the rheumatology appointment to get an official diagnosis.
I had learned about AS at university, where the literature suggested that it was a young male’s disease that impacted the eyes, hips and lower back. With my constant headaches, neck and nerve pain, foot pain and stomach pain I would never have thought I could be a contender for an AS diagnosis based on what I had been taught.
Right now I am still searching for the right mix of diet and medication to control my AS. Regular swimming, remedial massage and chiro visits do help, and keeping moving (even when it hurts) are my keys to staying in charge of my symptoms.
