My name is Dalbin Osorio and I am a 29 year old Quality Assurance Coordinator for SKIP of NY. As of yesterday, I am also diagnosed with AS. For 15 years, I’ve been dealing with back pain, ER visits, pumping myself full of meds, gastric infections, and all of that. With all of that, I’m glad I finally know why I’ve been in such constant pain for almost all my life. I’m incredibly thankful for Doctor Lee and Doctor Kim from NYU who finally listened to what I was saying and diagnosed me. Sometimes, not knowing is worse than knowing. I’m beginning Remicade fusions in a couple of weeks, and am looking forward to beating AS and being able to bend down and pick up my nieces or go to the gym or just not be in pain all the time. I’d like to sleep without letting out screams at night when it feels like someone’s scraping my nerves. Having less nights like that is what will motivate me to push forward, but I’m glad there are people like you that are making people aware of this condition. Too often, no one ever knows about these things. With people like you, they now will. I’m also reminded that there are people that have it worse than I do, and I hold on to the hope that one day no one ever will. I am attaching my picture, and I hope that my story can motivate anyone out there to push for answers and not just accept what doctors tell them. I’m glad I know now that I am the face of Ankylosing Spondylitis.
