A.S. Face 2154: Mark Utecht
My name is Mark Utecht and I have been diagnosed with AS for 30 years. Despite this illness, I have been racing cars since before I was diagnosed. Highlights in my racing career are the Pikes Peak Hillclimb and racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I also enjoy other outdoor activities and won’t let AS keep me from them. Stay strong and positive and don’t let this disease win!

Dear Mark,
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us.
Sincerely Cookie
Wow! Nice car sir!
Mark I don’t have a Face number yet
(I truly don’t know why I’m sooo hesitant.
Guess I don’t want to scare anyone else with A.S.)and I’ve been following Cookies
hard work for 6 years now.
I have had A.S. over 50 years. Along with
bone cancer and a host of other health issues.
I would LOVE a ride in your car , a race car or especially anyone’s motorcycle.
It would be pretty damn hard to get in your
car or even attempt to get on a motorcycle.
Dreams and mind over matter
keep me going. Thank you for sharing your smiling face. My outlook has been very lonely and bleak.
It has been for years.
Blessings to you and everyone else who reads
this. At least I truly know I’m not alone.
I don’t live anywhere even remotely near a
support group.
NOBODY understands A.S.unless they truly
suffer from it AND there’s a wide variation of it.
That’s why I’m hesitant to share my FACE because
I have had my fair share. I’d just sound like I’m
complaining. I can tell that even some of the Doctors on this site
(even tho they’re on our side)
honestly don’t understand it all and
probably never will, unless they personally
go thru all the different ways A.S. can affect
THEIR VERY OWN BODY.
Keep smiling Mark…it looks good on you.
