A.S. Face 1848: Charlotte Coley

Face 1848

My name is Charlotte Coley, I live in London England and I have been struggling with pain since my 20s that was put down to back pain but was never investigated. In my 30s other joints joined the party from knees, wrists and hips. When I had my second baby, my symptoms got worse in my hips leading to surgery to the left hip and I was finally diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis in 2015 following a second opinion referral. I have started treatment and have had further surgery to my right hip and hope to keep fighting. I am not sure sure if I have any fusion as that’s something my rheumatologist doesn’t think is important at this stage. With the help of my family and especially my loving husband I keep going with good days and bad.

England, United Kingdom, Europe

  1. Dear Charlotte,
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us.
    Sincerely Cookie

  2. I’ve had AS diagnosed for over 39 yrs. I recommend Physical therapy if you haven’t had it. They will teach you exercises for your hips, back, etc to strengthen the surrounding muscles. I take Enbrel which helps.

  3. That is my sister who is one of the strongest fighters I know! Never moans, fights to continue with life as normal for her gorgeous babies, works full time with a promotion recently, all enduring so much pain!

I am so so very proud of you baby sister and wish I could carry some of the pain for you. Love you lots xxx

Paul Coley I only want to say you my hero and thank you xx
