A.S. Face 1388: Becci Wendler

Face 1388 Face 1388 aMy name is Becci Wendler and I was diagnosed with AS and RA just last month. This diagnosis has been a long time coming as I started having pain and stiffness at just 14 years old.  I am now 29. For years my symptoms were dismissed as growing pains. When I joined the Army I was told my pain was due to all of our training. In 2006 I was misdiagnosed as having Fibromyalgia. My problems were subsequently dismissed by the military. Since my pregnancy in 2013 my symptoms have suddenly become substantially worse. I finally saw a new primary care doc who was willing to hear me out and refer me to a rheumatologist who diagnosed me with AS and RA. I started Humira injections 2 weeks ago and I am praying to finally see some relief from this miserable disease.

  1. Dear Becci,
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us.
    Sincerely Cookie

  2. Welcome, Becci! Sorry to hear about the pain you have been experiencing. Like you, after a life event, it seems that AS comes on with a vengeance! Right after I had cancer, BOOM, my AS went into overdrive, and I have been miserable. I sincerely hope that the Humira will work for you!
Best wishes to you! Stephania, Face #445
