A.S. Face 1010: Tina Looney

Face 1010Tina LooneyHello my name is Tina looney I am from Ocean City Maryland. I am 41 years old I have been battling with AS for many years. I have had problems my whole life and went undiagnosed for over 10 years going from doctor to doctor all telling me they could not help me. I would go to a doctor and they would promise to help me and the next visit say sorry I can’t help you. I would have given up if i did not have my mother. She pushed me all the way. I had to have my shoulder replaced and the doctor said I can get rid of the pain but it won’t work but at least no pain. But it was out of socket and fussed to my side so had no choice. I Finally went to the Mayo Clinic in Florida where I was to I had AS I always wanted to know what I had even if there was no cure but it was a shock to hear. By the time I found out my neck and spine were fussed. My ribs are affected and out of a 10 I breathe at a level 1. I am taking Enbrel witch is helping. There are days when I wish I had more Meds. I work as a mgr at McDonald’s and am on my feet 9 sometimes more hours a day 5 days a week. I just went to see my ortho doctor for my cortisone shot and he took x-ray and said he wants to do surgery caue I am loosing part of my shoulder. I sat in my car and cried for 30 min. I had MRI and see him again next week. I will get second opipion and talk to my rhuemy before I decide. I don’t want to have the same thing happen to this arm like the other one cause that will mean I mIght not be able to drive and maybe even work. I don’t want disability unless I can’t do anything else. I have worked since I was 14 and don’t want to stop. I love that I found that group. I don’t know anyone near me that has AS and people don’t understand how hard it is to live with this day after day but you do and are a true blessing and I thank you for caring and listening.
