A.S. Face 0948: Ronda Aldridge

Face 948

About 3 yes ago I was diagnosed with AS. I am a 46 yr old registered nurse in stat lake upstate NY located in the adirondack mountains. One day I woke up with red itchy eyes and a day later could hardly see between the light sensitivity and floaters along with blurred vision. I was sent to the eye doctors and diagnosed with uveitis. A few weeks later after going through tons of blood work and testing, I could barely get out of bed. Every joint in my body hurt. I was sent to a rheumatologist who diagnosed me with reactive arthritis and AS. I have been on humira and methotrexate with very little control over the pain. My low back and hips hurt so bad I had to take short term disability until they get it under control. I now look at chronic pain in a different light.

  1. Dear Ronda,
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us.
    Sincerely Cookie

  2. I moved to TX to get to a warmer dryer climate, because I truly feel the cold and dampness hurts me. I would do Arizona but too many life changes is too much for me. Born and raised in Rochester NY. Now north f Dallas Tx. Thank you for sharing your story. Am here for you. Dx in June 2012 finally after nagging pain which was only helped by an awesome Chiro in Victor NY. I believe with Gods hand, he saved my life some 16 years ago

    • Did the warmer weather help? I’m not sure I can relate my worse days to weather. I will be moving to Virginia soon. So you saw a chiro? I am contemplating on going to one. But I’m just not sure. Thanks for welcoming me, this site has been eye opening and a blessing
