A.S. Face 0891: Tanya Keel

Face 891Tanya keel

My name is Tanya, and here is my AS story…. When I was 20, I was diagnosed with ulcerative Colitis, that was a pain in you know what, but I somehow learned to deal with it.  At tge time bi was diagnosed, I also found out that I was HLAB27 positive.  My dad had Reiter’s Syndrome, my aunt has AS and my grandfather had UC, at the very least, I has some family that knew what I was going through and were every supportive. At the age of 27, I began showing signs of AS.  I went to see my aunts Rhemy and was diagnosed with AS and started on medication right away. A few years after that, I lost my battle with my colon, and it was removed.  The AS had went into remission for a while and things were not looking bad. Two years ago, it came back life no body’s business. I am currently on Remicade every six weeks, I am in a lot of pain everyday and for the past year and a half, I haven’t been able to work. HLAB27 and the diseases associated with it have taken alot from me, but they will never take my hope or the fight in me to never give up!! Tanya Keel Minot, North Dakota
