Face 758Maria Rod

My name is Maria Rodriguez, I’m 26 . I was diagnosed in June, 2011, after a year long struggle of kidney stones due to all the ibuprofen I was being prescribes for ” Arthritis” I was told I had As,I took a breath of relief to find or what was really wrong, but broken hearted to hear the words NO CURE! AND SPINAL FUSION! MEDS HAVE CANCER RISK! I suffer from psoriasis, depression, nerve damage and poor lung expansion due to As, also sinusitis, and I’m currently on my 3Rd treatment Remicade. I have extreme fatigue, and I fight this everyday, I’m a single mother trying to rule As and not letting As rule me! I’m in a life long battle, I want to call the shots,As has changed my world, I hope and pray for a cure! Living one day at a time and taking one step at a time and no longer worrying about people thinking I’m too lazy or saying I look tired, guess what I’m here I have a disease, but I am A Warrior! I’m going to do this my way, if I need to sit or stand or stop and rest I’m going to do it!! 26, woman ,mother, warrior!

  1. Dear Maria,
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us.
    Sincerely Cookie

  2. god bless you

  3. Awesome Maria! You’re fighting the good fight. Don’t worry about the fusion…that ain’t gonna happen. Side effects suck…but don’t worry about the cancer thing. Keep “mixin and matchin” meds until you find the right cocktail that works for you. FACE’s are full of “AS veterans” who have made a good life for themselves. So always keep the hope.

  4. When you say you’re on your 3rd Remicade treatment, that’s still pretty early. I’ve been on Remicade for 2.5 years. The first few months on Remicade can be rough. It should get better after 3 – 6 months. Good luck.

  5. Stay Strong!
