A.S. Face 0640: Douglas C Wareham II

My name is Douglas. This year I have been diagnosed with AS. I am 41. For the last two years I have felt like I have been hit by a Mach truck. I will be soon starting injections on a monthly basis and doing other things for treatment. I am so glad that I had found this group and a couple others through Facebook. It has helped tremendously on understanding AS and what to expect and also to understand that there are other people out there that I can connect with. It also helps to know that if I ever have any questions, comments, or concerns, I have a place to come to.

If there is anything you might need from me, I would be more than happy to share it with you.

Thank you for making this site available to us all.

  1. Dear Douglas,
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us.
    Sincerely Cookie

  2. Come on down Doug! Welcome to a very exclusive club. WE don’t allow just anyone to join club AS. WE’ve done an extensive background check, and you’ve made the cut. No
“black ball” here. Only the finest of freinds are allowed here. You are about to enter a world where the finest of character traits are on display. The “blue wrist band” you will soon receive grants you access to the finest of restauruants, hotel discounts, and parking spaces right in front of the grocery store(hopefully not the latter).

Seriously, you’ll have to forgive the above cause I’m all strung out on coffee! About 400 and some FACES ago, I too was “so glad I found this group.” Keep reading FACES Doug. The very best of humanity is on display here. At one time I thought reading these stories would “bum me out”, but instead I’ve found it builds me up. I luvs all the AS’ers of the world!(ok,ok,I thinks it’s time to switch to drinking water).

  3. Hi Douglas! I wish you a very warm welcome to the Faces of A.S. Family. Thank you for sharing your story with all of us. There are so many wonderful, caring, kind, beautiful, & very supportive people here. I hope you will find many incredible friends, as I have here. You never have to feel alone ever again. We are all here for you, & happy to answer any questions that you may have. A positive attitude, & hope is what helps me through the hardest times. I can’t always be positive, but I do try my very best to be hopeful. I’m very happy to welcome to the Faces family. I would definitely recommend reading the other stories on here. I warn you, they are highly addictive, & may cause inspiration, hope, courage, & strength. I hope you find it a very comforting place to be. I’m very happy that you found this wonderful A.S. world, where there are no judgments, only support & lots of new friends, that you already have something in common with. If you scroll down the list on the right, past the A.S. names, count 9 lines down, to the A.S. Information Board. I would highly recommend reading over the mountain of info in there. There are also resources like doctors listed by state, & all kinds of other resources on the info board, too. I hope you find comfort, hope, & peace. 🙂 Lisa # 535
