A.S. Face 0606: Julie

My name is Julie. I’m 18 years old and I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis 3 weeks ago. I’ve been living with symptoms since I was 15. I live in Idaho Falls, Idaho and am surrounded by the greatest of people. Every day its a fight to win-attitude over the pain. i’ve felt just about every emotion since being diagnosed with AS but I look forward to living a life with happiness and love-doing the things I want to do and letting nothing hold me back.

  4. Hi Julie! Thank you so much for sharing your AS story with all of us. You have such an amazing positive attitude, it’s really so great to see. I understand exactly what you mean, about going through so many different emotions, it’s totally normal with AS. We all do. You have only just been diagnosed recently, & you seem to be handling it so well. You are an inspiration to young adults with AS everywhere. You sound like you love the people around you, support is a very importaant part of living with AS. Everyone here is very kind, caring, & very supportive of each other. I hope that you meet other really cool people here. You’ve found a very special place here. There is no judgment, & we all look out for one another. I hope that you love it here, as much as I do. This website is like a wonderful little world, where everyone can relate to each other, & meet people from all over the world. It’s not all serious, we also laugh quite a bit. I really hope you will feel at home here soon, Julie. There is also an AS information & AS resource board on the main page of the site, you just scroll down the list of names & you’ll see it. It’s really nice to have you join the AS famiy. 🙂 Welcome, Lisa.

    • Lisa-Thank you so much for your kind words. I feel welcome and at home in a place where everyone knows exactly what I’m dealing with. You are a gem.

  6. Hi Julie! Thank so much for your kind & uplifting reply to my comment. I can see in your writings, what a special person you are. I read some of your Blog, & it truly confirmed you have a heart of gold, & such a wonderful attitude towards your AS, & to life in general. I’m so happy that you already like it here, & feel at home. You will get a lot from this website. I haven’t been here that long, about 3 1/2 months, although it took me quite a while to post my AS story, I have made friends here that I feel like I’ve know my whole life. There is a special connection, & sense of comfort, knowing all of these people understand, what others can’t, & feel the same way I feel. I am so inspired by your AS story, & your Blog. I hope you keep writing, you are quite talented. It is okay to cry, Julie. It’s a way of getting out sadness that would consume us if we didn’t. We all cry, but we also all laugh. I’m really happy that you found all of us. If you ever want to talk, or have questions about AS, I’m on Facebook & I’m Face # 535 on here. I hope you don’t mnd, if I continue to read your blog. I really enjoyed what I’ve read. Thank you, Julie your story, blog, & sweet comment have touched my heart. 🙂 Lisa
