A.S. Face 0378: Allison

I  was diagnosed with AS a year ago (2011), about 7 years after my first symptoms started. I am now 23 and looking forward to anything else life has to throw at me! My ultimate goal is to run a marathon someday. And by run I probably mean walk. And by marathon I probably mean a half marathon. And by someday I probably mean after I get bionic legs. But I really mean that it is my ultimate goal. Bring it, AS! I’ve got this in the bag – and by bag I probably mean my bag of meds.

  1. Thanks for sharing your story Allison, you definitely have a good sense of humor, and that will take you very far. Hang in there,

  2. I love your writing style Allison. I love the spirit of you young people- you make us “oldsters” feel alive again(I better be carefull what I say-Marti might be commenting soon).
If there is a bright side to this Allison (beside the words you just laid on us), is you’ve found out now, so you can shape your career around AS. I’m not worried about you. With your attitude, and modern medicine, I thinks you’re gonna just roll right over AS.

Besides, you’re from MONTANA! We’re neighbors. The West is the Best.

  3. I love your attitude and spirit Allison!!! 🙂 Thank you for sharing your story. (btw Derek…..we are NOT old……….technically we are antiques LOL… but like a fine wine, we better with age. 🙂 )

  4. URGH! I hate that this disease effects the young. Thank you for your strength! Keep “running” how ever you can.

  5. Dear Allison,
Thank you so much for sharing your story.. A short one but a powerful one for sure.. you reminded me of my favorite quote.. that I keep on my wall..

“If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it.” William Arthur Ward

So when you are running that marathon be sure to wear your Faces of AS Band!

    Sincerely Cookie
