A.S. Face 0359: Bex Essery

My story started back in 2007 when i had my first child. After she was born by emergency c section i started to terrible pains in my back and hips. Went to the doctors and told to have complete bed rest. Eventually the pain went away and i started to enjoy motherhood. Then in 2009 i had pains comeback and was laid off work. But was forced back due to being told it’s all in my head i just kept going back they finally give me the tests i needed. But then i got pregnant with my baby number 2. So all tests were put on hold. Baby along and they blamed the pain on the weight i put on in pregnancy. But i didn’t give in. I finally got diagnosed with as in march 2012. A long fight but i know i was right and now time will tell if i am on the right medication. I have wonderful consultant team. And the best family and friends for support x

  3. March 2012! That’s like almost last week. So your treatment journey has just began. Well, first thing is don’t be afraid. Second thing, get in tune with your body. Get ready to look for side effects of the meds (but first, refer to first thing). Some meds I had bad side effects, the ones I’m on now (enbrel)I don’t notice a thing. There’s lots to choose from, and if one makes you sick, then tell the Rhuemy. (rule#1–Don’t wait for appointment if it doesn’t feel right- call the Rhuemy’s nurse. You’ll probably have to leave a voice mail, but she’ll call back. I call it “working the nurse”). Welcome to our BIG family Bex, you’re not alone by any means.

  4. Dear Bex,
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. Well if you aren’t the new kid on the block! March? Well you have come to the right place, from this day forward you will never be alone!
    Sincerely Cookie
