A.S. Face 0314: Brandon Snow
I am 27, live in central OK and I was diagnosed with AS in 2008. My doctors are doing what they can for me to help with the pain and I will hopefully start seeing a rheumatologist in April. My doctors I have been to had 2 separate MRI’s and both of them show fusing in my lower back. I have 2 children and am married. It has taken awhile to sink in but with my profession I have had to make some adjustments. Mostly I am able to fight thru it everyday and I thank God for that. I am really interested in making more awareness and a friend of mine actually made an AS awareness video for me. If there is anything I can ever do to help another in my position I am more than willing. Thank you to ASAP for creating this page and committing it to AS awareness!

Hello Brandon, A rheumatologist is key to the battle – you will be able to get a long range treatment program in place – inflamation control is key.
Best regards

Hello Brandon. We live in the Dallas Tx. area, so not too far from you :). My son has AS and is about your age. He was diagnosed when he was 17. You definitely need a good rheumatologist. After trying other things and then mainly just getting by with over the counter Aleve for the past 4-5 yrs. my son recently started Humira (self injection every 2 weeks) and it has made a world of difference. He can bend and jump and do things now he hasn’t been able to do in years. Everyone is different of course but it has sure been a miracle drug for him.

Hi Brandon, Thanks for sharing your story. I loved when you said you are able to fight through it every day and thank God that you can. That really inspired me because sometimes I feel angry that I have to fight through the pain every day, but you’re right, I should be thanking God that I have another day on this earth. I really needed to hear that! We will all keep fighting together.
