A.S. Face 0266: Cecil Lyons
HELLO MY NAME IS CECIL LYONS I AM FROM A SMALL TOWN IN NW FLORIDA CALLED PORT SAINT JOE. I AM 44 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE AS. I WAS DIAGNOSED LAST YEAR AFTER MANY YEARS OF BACK PROBLEMS THAT WERE MISDIAGNOSED AS MECHANICAL ISSUES. I HAVE REALLY GONE DOWN HILL IN THE LAST FEW YEARS AND NOW HAVE ISSUES WITH MY SI JOINTS, NECK, KNEES, SHOULDERS, AND CHEST. I AM CURRENTLY ON HUMERA BUT I KEEP HAVING TO COME OFF OF IT BECAUSE OF SICKNESS OR INFECTION. ITS GOOD TO FIND A SITE WHERE I CAN SEE THAT I’M NOT ALONE AND SEE THAT OTHERS ARE HAVING MANY OF THE SAME ISSUES THAT I AM.

I think the toughest time is the first few years after getting the diagnosis. It’s a fricken attitude adjustment ain’t it. I was diagnosed 11 years ago-and ya know, I was thinking the other day when I was “down about As”, and it dawned on me away that I’ve made it through 11 years-that’s a good thing. somehow I survived it, If I can survive that-certainly I can survive the next 11.
PS- is that a set of “legs” I see in the back ground? Could you pan to the left a little-maybe ZOOM a little? (WARNING- faces of AS does not condone this type of behavior without the express written consent of Faces of AS).
Somehow I think you’ll persevere Cecil.
Dear Derek
You should get your eyes checked. I see more than just legs!
Sincerely Cookie 🙂

Hi Cecil,
Oh how i can relate to what you’re going through with the Humira and having to keep stopping it to clear up a cold or infection. Hang in there. You are not alone…… Thank you for sharing your story.
(hugs)
