A.S. Face 0263: Laura Baker
I have been in pain as long as I can remember. I’ve always been the weird girl, last pick for every team, always sick, and never has energy. In my search for answers, I have seen many doctors, tried alternative treatments, and cried many tears. No one believed me. Doctors treated me like I was a hypochondriac or a pain pill junky, even though I refused their offers for pain medications. Finally, in late 2011, I found a doctor who believed me and referred me to a doctor that diagnosed me with Ankylosing Spondylitis. Even though I’m still in pain every day, I have a name for my condition. I can seek out support groups and talk to others that understand my pain. I will be forever grateful to the two doctors that believed me. And I will forever be proud of myself for not giving up hope.
