A.S. Face 0229: Debby

My name is Debby, I live in WV and I have Ankylosing Spondlitis. I believe this started when I was in my 20’s. I say this because  this pain started back then. I went to so many dr’s and none could find the problem. I finally, after about 10 years found a dr that knew exactly what was going on and I was then diagnosed. I am now 52 and suffer everyday through the pain,  And because at that point, I was told I let it progress too far, I, who have been to numerous doctors, but I let it progress too far. I have yet to find anything to help with this pain. I am unable to work because of the pain. Just something as simple as sweeping the floor is somedays unbearable. Do I want to get out of bed in the mornings? No, but I do, because I’m a fighter and I will fight this through! And I believe help is coming! So many of us are waiting for some relief to the pain, that I know it will happen! Please everyone, join us and help us to find a cure for Ankylosing Spondylitis

  1. Dear Debby,
Thank you so much for being a part of my vision!
    Sincerely Cookie

  2. Thanks for sharing Debby 🙂

  3. I read in “scientific America” a couple years ago about research into “glia cells”, and how they have a lot to do with “chronic pain.” Something about the body over reacting to injury and cranking out too many of these cells which “enhance” pain signals. I’ve got it around here somewhere, because It was “very encouraging”. It would be a revolutionary breakthrough in pain management if they can get it in “pill” form. It worked great on mice-but we’re not mice. Check it out.

  4. DEBBIE> SO GLAD I GOT TO KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT YOU. YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS AND IN MY THOUGHTS. (((HUGS))) YOU ARE A GOOD FRIEND.

  5. Debby: Thanks for sharing your story. I loved your comments about how you were accused of letting your AS go to far. I, too, am in that predicament, as the multitude of doctors I have seen over the years did not diagnose me correctly. I am now in such pain and experiencing so much fatigue that I am thinking of not working any longer so that I can rest when I need to. Take care of yourself! I wish you all the best, and hope for a cure for this nasty disease someday soon!
