A.S. Face 0160: Jennifer Gravouia

My name is Jennifer Gravouia I am 32 an I have had AS for 7 1/2 yrs now .. Like all my fellow ASers I struggle with the most simple things day to day that normal people take for granted r look at me an see nothing wrong on the outside an say u look perfectly fine but fail to realize on the inside how much pain I feel that has taken so much from me in what should be the best yrs of my life enjoying my 1 an 7 yr Ol girls an doing what normal mothers do … Instead I have to say wait baby I can’t play right now r ask my oldest to help me up cause I can’t pull my self up with out help at time r lift up my baby without my other daughters help … I’m 32 yrs old an I cannot do what all my other friends / family r people my own age do that I know if they could walk a mile in my shoes for a month r 2 they would not take there Health an pain free life for granted ….. I can only hope for a cure one day … Hope is all I have an it’s the one thing AS can’t take from me …

  1. Dear Jennifer,
Thank you for sharing your story with us. I for one think this picture should be the poster child for AS. I love it. 🙂
    Sincerely Cookie

  2. My name is Jacquie Gregor, I have had A.S. for 6 years (at least that was when I finally got the dianosis). I was very active, boating, hiking, fitness coach. That came to a SUDDEN stop with awful pain in my neck and ribs and chronic eye problems. My life has gone from ‘how can I help you’ to “would you mind helping me roll over or get out of bed?”.
Each day is filled with new challenges and new adjustments. Not just for me, for those around me. People ask “what is wrong?” I just tell them, “I am learning to ask for help and learn to live moment to moment, it is calles A.S.”

  3. GOD Bless you, Jennifer. I hope that you can find the inner strength to carry on. You are in my thoughts & prayers!

    Best wishes,

    John

  4. OMG jennifer, its like ur inside my head, those sre the same exact thoughts that run through my mind everyday. all i can say is WOW

  5. Jen, I agree with Cookie. I think we should all stick our tongue out at this disease. Hope for a cure. I know the things you think…. Getting out of bed just to get my yogurt out of the fridge so I don’t get sick with Norco. Just diagnosed. Had this going for about 14 years. I hope the kids bring you amazing joy each and every day.
