  1. Sorry he has to go through this at such a young age. I worry about my children getting AS. Your son has a nice smile.

  2. Dear Joanne,
Thank you so much for sharing your son’s story with us. I hope that he will find comfort in knowing that he can lead a productive and happy life. I have managed in spite of and because of Ankylosing Spondylitis I have achieved every goal I ever set out to accomplish. I hope that he will take advantage of our stories and learn from them. Educate, Advocate and remember to ask questions, demand answers, to be kind to himself and to mankind. R. J. remember you are never alone. Stand Tall…. and never let anything hold you back.
    Sincerely Cookie

  3. I know RJ and Joanne personally, and let me say, there’s never a time where I see RJ and there isn’t a smile on his face. He goes through a lot with this disease, but you’d never know it because this kid NEVER complains. I joke with him a lot, but he’s a VERY tough (and awesome) kid. My buddy, RJ!

  4. Dear R.J.
Thank you for being a part of my vision. Please know that there are people out there who care and doing everything possible to make a difference in the World of AS.
    Sincerely Cookie

  5. Hi, I just found you on the Faces of AS Map – nice to know there are a handful of ASers right in my backyard!
