Let’s Do This!

Hello everyone,
I wanted to reach out to everyone and say thank you for your understanding and patience.
My goal for Faces of Ankylosing Spondylitis has not changed, and that is to be able to say Welcome Faces of AS 2700!
Today I posted Face 2128 which means we only have 572 people to go to reach my goal.
I started this project in October 2011 and hope to finish it BEFORE October 2021, which means I have two years to complete this project.

I am reaching out to all of you to help me recruit people to become a part of this project.
There are 2128 of you that believed in my vision enough to be a Face of AS and I am asking all of you to reach out to others and ask them to do the same.
It only takes a picture and a name, full name or just initials. You can submit only a photo, or along with a quote, phrase, your life’s journey, or anything you wish at all.

The Faces of AS has always been and will always be about what each individual needs it to be, it’s your platform to share what you want or feel you need to share. It’s up to you.
I need help from all of you to reach this goal and I hope you believe in this vision as much as I do.
Please send your information to CookieHasAs@aol.com
Thank you all so much in advance for everything.
Can’t wait to add you all and welcome you!

  1. Hi!

I just found your site and have been suffering with this disease since 2014 and loss of what I knew as “life@ in 2016. One day while walking at my normal fast pace between meetings I felt a searing oIn on my left hip; in my mind’s eye I saw a spear lodged in my hip from behind. Of course there was no spear but as I tried to pick myself up off the floor where I collapsed I knew this was something related to the previous two years of intermittent low back pain. This was the beginning of more doctor and physical therapy visits than I can add up. It was the start of six spine surgeries, a significant number of injections, a spinal cord stimulator, and pain management medications. It was also the end of my professional life which was how I defined myself. The hard work that went into four Master degrees simply rendered a waste. My highly athletic lifestyle gone. A tidal wave simply wiped out life as I knew it.

I do not know how to submit a picture to help you reach your goal. Would you please assist?
