Chris Scott
I’m Chris Scott. I am 52 years old and was diagnosed with AS in 1999. That whole joke about things falling apart at 40 was coming true.
I live in Southeastern Ohio with my wife Carol, and our pooch Kadie. I have worn many hats but the ones I am most proud of are those of a firefighter/paramedic. 25 years in the
Fire service.
I have been through the gambit of meds, DMARDS, NSAIDS, Biologics. Currently on Humira.. I’ve had a Spinal Cord Stimulator implanted to help control my back pain. It’s great.
I’ve had 1 unsuccessful lumbar fusion surgery that left me with neuropathy in my legs. In 2008 I finally had to give up the 9-5 grind and started waging my battle for disability. That
was a 2 ½ year struggle that we finally won last year.
I keep my time occupied with a small graphics business in our home. I enjoy being outside as much as I can, and staying as active as I can. I have resolved to myself that I am going to hurt
but I’m not going to let the AS win. It’s a daily war against the monster, but I won’t give in to it. I still enjoy a crappy golf game, that has got a bit better with AS.
I have met many wonderful folks through various AS websites. We have traveled to several AS get togethers across the Midwest and into Canada, and have hosted a party or 2 here.
ASers are a special breed. You will be really hard pressed to find a more determined, courageous and strong bunch of people. I love them all..
That’s my story in a nutshell.. Keep Kickin’AS!!
