Although the world is full of suffering,

it is also full of the overcoming of it.

Welcome to The Faces of Ankylosing Spondylitis.

This Site Is Dedicated To

Some Of The Strongest People

You Will Ever Know

It is time to let our skeletons out of the closet and let the identities of the awareness ribbons be known!

I am a follower of the Scar Project that represents the reality of cancer, courage, strength, and hope.

This site is dear to my heart, because I, myself am a cancer survivor, and have lost many loved ones due to cancer.

I also have a disease known as Ankylosing Spondylitis.

I have decided to do a project that shows our reality and what our lives are really like.

My vision is to collect one thousand plus faces on this site.

I hope you will take the time to read what these courageous and wonderful people have decided to share with you.

It takes extreme courage to reveal one’s truth.

This site was started because of one man’s courage to show his “truth.”

My dear friend Kevin Andrews.

This site is in memory  of and dedicated to Stuart

This site is in honor of Sara Frankl

The requirements  to have your face included on this site are:

You must have  Ankylosing Spondylitis.

You must include a picture of yourself.

You are welcome to provide only a picture, or a picture along with a story, poem, quote, whatever you wish to share about your life with Ankylosing Spondylitis. This project doesn’t have a deadline and you are free to add or update anytime you wish.

Please send your information to email address Cookiehasas@aol.com

I appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you. Sincerely Cookie

We look forward to hearing from you.

Everyone is encouraged to add comments to any of the stories. I’m sure the writer would love to hear from you. I know I would!

“Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls;

the most massive characters are seared with scars.”

  1. How do you make a Face page? I have AS, and I think this would be a great way to share my story.

  2. I as well have lovely AS. Started blogging about it when I have a chance. I would love to hear how other moms/wives with AS deal with the day to day.

  3. I think this is a great idea. It lets us know that we’re not alone. I’m also shocked by just how many of us are women, when we’re told that it “hardly ever affects women”. Guess we’ve proven them wrong…

Just wrote a short blurb with my face page, since i’m just at the start of my journey, but reading others’ pages has provided so much insight and comfort. Thank you for doing this, Cookie. :)
